Blogging Guidelines

Each week we would like you to post to this blog. Your audience is other students from your school's R3 group as well as some from other schools in the diocese. Your teacher and other R3 teachers will read and may comment on your blogs posts. It would be great if you could even comment on other students' posts.

What should we blog about?

• Tell your readers about something you have been reading this week (either in the group or your own free choice reading).

• Also share what you are learning about yourself as a reader and things you are working on to improve your reading.  

Expectations of your blog post:

Content	As others will be reading the blog it will be important that you think about/plan your post to ensure it makes sense and is interesting for the reader. You might consider including a photo of the text or even some video (where you might read a section of the text) to engage the audience. You might even like to upload an example of something you have done in response to your reading.
Length	A minimum of 2 paragraphs - one about what you are reading, and one focused on self-reflection and goal-setting
Structure	You might retell or summarise one of the texts that you have been reading, ensuring you include the title, author and important details. Your retell or summary could include facts you have learned (from non-fiction) or aspects of the plot that were significant (from fiction). Your self reflection is a chance for you to stop and think about the skills and strategies you have been working on in the group, and how you feel you are going with these, and what you feel you need to do to further improve.
Surface Features	Before you publish your post, make sure you re-read it to check for good grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Privacy	As with all posting in online environments never reveal your surname or details like your phone number or address, and make sure that any photos or videos which you upload are not identifying you publicly. Take photos of book covers and consider using a voiceover, rather than adding a photo or video where the camera is pointing at you.
